Is a bridal trial really necessary?
As a professional hair and makeupartist, one question I get asked a lot is: "Is a bridal trial really necessary?" Well, would you try your wedding dress before you buy it? There's your answer. Many brides think that a trial is just a way for artists to make more money. In reality, it's the exact opposite. I actually take a loss on the trial day because the time, effort and products cost a lot more than I charge. But I look at it as an investment. Plus, it's a great opportunity for us to get to know each other, ensuring you are super comfortable on the big day.
What Happens During a Bridal Trial?
On the day, we start with a consultation. You describe your vision for your bridal look and I ask a few questions. Then comes full bridal makeup application, followed by the hairstyle of your choice. I recommend that you allow three hours for the entire process.
I often get asked by brides if it's essential to have your outfit and jewellery sorted before your bridal trial. The short answer to that question is not necessarily. The idea is for you to meet me, see my makeup on your face and try your hairstyle. Once you decide we're a good match, everything else can be tweaked along the way in the lead up to the big day. Having said that, I have had brides who have wanted two trials: one to book me and another one with their complete outfit and jewellery.
